Spring Fever

Spring Fever

Can you feel it? Spring is near! Extra sunlight, warmer weather, and flowers blooming are a welcome reminder that Spring is right around the corner.

As educators, it is an ideal time to expand on the teaching moments around us. Your kids are likely noticing flowers are budding, the weather is getting warmer, new baby animals are around, and the day is lighter after dinnertime.

By tapping into the world around us and the changing seasons, we are able to learn about the need for transition. Every season of our lives may unfold naturally, when we allow it the time to do so. Topics such as animal life cycles, change in seasons, how the seasons impact daily living, and even seasonal food crops are all ways in which we can utilize nature to build knowledge and understanding of the world.

On our ClassOrbit platform, we have video content to support you and your students throughout this new season:

  • The Four Seasons
    • This video dives into the Vernal Equinox (the first day of Spring) where day and night are the same length. During the spring, the days continue to get longer and warmer. It shows how extra sunlight, warmer weather, and damp soil cause the seeds in the soil to germinate.
  • Let's Explore Farm
    • This video showcases life on a variety of farms. It touches on everything from how we get food from farms, what it is like to be a farmer, and the many things farmers do throughout the day and through the changing seasons. It also goes back in time to see what farming was like before modern equipment was developed.
  • Animal Lifecycles
    • This video teaches students that living things grow and change. It compares animal parents and babies, and students can see that some animal babies do not look like their parents. From tadpole to frog, egg to chicken, caterpillar to butterfly, and puppy to dog; students are introduced to, and learn the stages of, the life cycles of animals.

Spring is full of opportunities to teach intriguing facts and topics about nature! Channeling your students' energy about the changes in springtime will make learning relevant and fun.

Our team at ClassOrbit is here to support you and your students!

Happy Spring!
